THE UNLEAVENED BREAD OF LIFE

Today I am going to discuss the instructions for the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

It is during this feast that Yehshua was resurrected and it is during this feast in this year that we are in that the first trumpet will begin to sound.

In order to understand this feast, you need to have knowledge of what the unleavened bread represents.

Our Messiah taught us that He was the bread of life.

Many understand that leavening represents sin but there is more involved in this understanding if you truly want to get rid of all leavening in your life.

We need to understand what sin is.

John gives us a very clear cut and straight forward definition;

1 John 3:4

4 Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: AND SIN IS THE VIOLATION OF THE LAW.

John does not mince words. He calls it what it is, He says if we say we know Elohiym and do not keep the commandments, we are liars and we do not have the truth.

So why do so many proclaim that they know Elohiym and His Son apart from keeping His commandments and statutes?

Are they liars or is John a liar? I stand on the authority of ‘EL Shadai and say they are liars and John spoke the truth.

These people believe their lies because they believe the teachings of a false apostle named Saul of Tarsus over the very words of their Messiah and other eyewitnesses to His walk here like the true apostle John.

They make a claim that Israel had the laws and statutes but they were not for the gentiles.

Is this what our Creator tells us?

Num 15:29-31

29 You shall have ONE LAW for him that strays into sin, both for him that is born among the children of Israel and for the stranger that sojourns among them.

30 But the soul that does so knowingly (sins intentionally), whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproaches YEHWEH; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

31 Because he has despised the word of YEHWEH, and has broken His commandment, this soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

It does not sound like there was two different standards and there is not two different standards today either.

In order to understand, you have to understand why the laws and the statutes were given to us. YEHWEH is building a family with them.

He gave them to us to teach us His character so we could be made in His image by living them and letting His thought process become our thought process.

Why would He do away with that which He gave us to perfect us?

And, why would He want rebellious children in His family?

The feast of unleavened bread is one of these commandments that we are to obey.

The first day is the 15th day of the 1st month. This year, this day falls on the 19th day of April on man’s calendar.

In Lev 23:6-14

6 On the fifteenth day of the same month is YEHWEH’S FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD: seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

7 In the first day you shall have a holy assembly: you shall do no work of any kind.

8 You shall bring YEHWEH an offering made with fire for seven days: in the seventh day is a holy assembly: you shall do no work of any kind.

9 And YEHWEH spoke to Moses, saying,

10 Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, when you come into the land which I give to you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then you shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of the harvest to the priest:

11 And he shall wave the sheaf before YEHWEH to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. (this is always on the 16th day of the month)

12 And day when the sheaf is waved you shall offer YEHWEH a lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering.

13 And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering to YEHWEH made with fire for a sweet savor: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of a hin.

14 And you shall not eat bread, nor roasted grain, nor any of the new produce until the selfsame day that you have brought an offering unto your Elohiym: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

The instructions for this feast in Leviticus 23 are;

1) We are to eat unleavened bread for seven days. Elsewhere, we are actually told to begin eating it the day before with the Passover, the evening of the 14th.

Leavening is used as an example and as a training tool because it is that which causes bread to rise up.

If we live off of different spiritual nutrition than His word, the end result will be that we rise ourselves up to be greater than our Creator and tell Him how it is.

This is exactly the same sin as Adam and Eve; they rejected His instruction and decided right from wrong for themselves.

We are told to eat unleavened bread these seven days to point us to living off of His unleavened bread of life all year long.

Yehshua was His word made to be flesh. He told us the night before the Passover when He was killed that the bread that we are to eat represents His flesh and He was the word of Elohiym made to be flesh.

This is what unleavened bread represents, His word, the word of life.

His word is the truth. Eating that which is false, the teachings of men, leads to death.

2) We are told that the day after the Sabbath on the 16th we are to bring a sheaf of the current years new spring crop to the priest for Him to wave it before YEHWEH.

The waving of this sheaf was accomplished on our behalf when Yehshua was in the tomb when His sacrifice was accepted on our behalf if we repent and come under the covenant agreement with our Creator that allows for our sins to be atoned for by His Son’s blood.

Yet, our part of the sacrifice continues daily, dying to our self-will and living for His will, being made in His image by His word and through the power of His spirit.

3)  The first day and the last day of this feast, this is the 15th day and the 21st day of the month, are Holy assemblies where we are to come before Him as a congregation and His word is read. There is also to no work of any kind on these two days.

4) We are not to eat of the new crop each spring, not even make bread from the grain thereof until the 16thday.  I do see a modern day equivalent to this but it is not the point of this year’s Feast because we are in a 7th year Sabbath anyway.

5) We are to bring an offering made with fire to Him for seven days. There is no Levitical Priesthood in place in this day so our offering is a matter of sacrificing self and walking in repentance on His narrow path, living His word.

6) This is a feast that is to be observed forever.

Now I will read the instructions for this feast from the book of Exodus;

Ex 12:15-20

15 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread; even the first day you shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

16 And in the first day there shall be a holy assembly, and in the seventh day there shall be a holy assembly to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, except that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

17 And you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for in this selfsame day I have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore you shall observe this day in your generations for an ordinance forever.

18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, you shall eat unleavened bread until the twenty first day of the month at even.

I discussed this word at even in more detail in the Passover video but here it is referring to the time of day as the daytime portion of ereb comes to a close. We are to begin to eat it with the Passover meal as commanded in the Passover instructions.

19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eats that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or born in the land.

20 You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall you eat unleavened bread.

Now we see that we are to remove all leavening products from our house all together as well and we are not even to eat anything that has leavening in it for this week.

This lesson is to point us to not eating anything that is false, but living by every word of Elohiym.

We also see that we are allowed to prepare food to eat on the two high days.

All of this is symbolism to teach us how to live the rest of the year.

In Deut 16:2-8

2 You shall therefore sacrifice to YEHWEH your Elohiym for His Passover of the flock and the herd in the place which YEHWEH shall choose to place His name.

This is a different set of instructions. Verse 1 was telling us to keep the Passover, now in this verse Moses is telling Israel to offer up sacrifices because of YEHWEH giving us the Passover.

Yehshua fulfilled these sacrifices IF we are in a covenant with His Father and covered by His blood.

Moses is not referring to the Passover here, the instructions are different because now they can also be of the cattle and they are to be offered up outside our gates whereas the Passover is to be performed inside our gates.

3 You shall eat no leavened bread with it; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of misery; for you came forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that you may remember the day when you came forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

This is why we do this each year, as a constant reminder of coming out of bondage.
Egypt represents the spiritual bondage of living off of leavened spiritual nutrition.

4 And there shall be no leavened bread seen with you in all your coast for seven days; neither shall there anything of the flesh, which you sacrificed the first day at even remain all night until the morning.

5 You may not sacrifice for YEHWEH your Elohiym’s Passover which He gave you within any of your gates:

6 But at the place which YEHWEH your Elohiym shall choose to place His name in, there you shall sacrifice for His Passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the APPOINTED TIME that you came forth out of Egypt.

It is clear that this was to take place at the end of the Sabbath day on the 15th as the sun was going down. At even is different description than the timing of the Passover lamb, the Hebrew words are different.

The grammatical notations are different in regards to ereb which is translated as even plus the Hebrew word “beyn” is missing.

But we are to still leave our gates for this night, it is a night to be much observed and it is forever as well.

7 And you shall roast and eat it in the place which YEHWEH your Elohiym shall choose: and you shall turn in the morning, and go unto your tents.
So we are to return to our homes the next morning.

8 Six days you shall eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to YEHWEH your Elohiym: you shall do no work of any kind.

This, of course, is except that which is elsewhere included, meaning we can prepare what we eat as we read earlier.

The command to observe the night of the 15th is found in Ex 12:42

42 It is a night to be much observed to YEHWEH for bringing us out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of YEHWEH to be observed by all the children of Israel in their generations.

These are very straight forward commands and their purpose is beautiful as is the purpose of all of our Creator’s statutes and ordinances.

They are a path that we are to walk on day by day and year by year as He transforms us in His image.

We read this explained in;

Ex 13:8-10

8 And you shall show your son in that day, saying, this (the feast of unleavened bread) is done because of that which YEHWEH did for me when I came forth out of Egypt.

9 And it shall be for a sign to you upon your hand (what you practice), and for a memorial between your eyes, that the YEHWEH’s law (His torah which is His path) may be in your mouth: for with a strong hand YEHWEH has brought you out of Egypt (bondage).

10 YOU SHALL THEREFORE KEEP THIS ORDINANCE IN HIS APPOINTED TIME FROM YEAR TO YEAR.

The blessings that He has promised those who walk with Him on His path that He gave us are awesome.

His path is His statutes and His ordinances. The reason that His Son was offered up on your behalf was so that we can be forgiven and they could take up their residence in us by writing His path or His torah in our inward parts.

What an awesome gift, but most of man has rejected what He offered and now we have reached a time of purging out that which will not change to His ways.

He is crying out to you to turn from your ways and turn to the path that He gave us.

In less than a few days, the first trumpet will begin to sound. I hope this video finds you wanting that which is true and whole, wanting to be made in His image by His torah.
